Cortical systems for local and global integration in discourse comprehension

► We examine the cortical regions underlying integration in discourse comprehension. ► BOLD responses as a function of experimental variables isolate three networks. ► These networks are sensitive to recent context, distant context, or both. ► BOLD-to-memory correlations show positive correlations with language areas. ► Correlations are however negative in sensory, motor, and visual areas.
