Hemispheric asymmetries in goal-directed hand movements are independent of hand preference

► We investigated asymmetries in goal-directed hand movements in left- and right‐handers. ► We found left-right hand differences in kinematics and neural substrates. ► The asymmetries are due to functional specialization for visuomotor processing. ► The hemispheric specialization is independent of hand preference.
