►The insular surface can be subdivided in two relatively homogeneous areas. ►The two areas are characterized by different patterns of metaanalytic connectivity. ►Anterior pattern is more salience-related. ►Posterior pattern is more sensorimotor related. ►This subdivision is replicable using behavioral data.
