Abnormal cerebral cortical thinning pattern in adolescent girls with idiopathic scoliosis

► To investigate cortical thickness in adolescents with and without scoliosis. ► Fifty AIS patients with were compared with 40 age-matched controls. ► Cortical thickness declined significantly in normal subjects. ► The effect of geometric imperfection on the strength of CFST arches was studied. ► Cortical thickness decline was weakly correlated with age in AIS patients. ► Thickness in motor and vestibular cortical areas was different in AIS.
