Contralateral white noise attenuates 40-Hz auditory steady-state fields but not N100m in auditory evoked fields

► Effects of contralateral white noise on the auditory evoked fields (AEFs) were examined using MEG. ► Contralateral white noise significantly attenuated 40-Hz auditory steady-state fields (ASSFs). ► Contralateral white noise did not cause any significant change in N100m response of AEFs. ► Suppression of the 40-Hz ASSF by contralateral white noise showed right hemispheric predominance.
