Self-organised transients in a neural mass model of epileptogenic tissue dynamics

► Dynamics and excitability are explored in a spatially extended neural mass model. ► We investigate the transmission of epileptic spiking at the neural mass level. ► Stimulation can cause the propagation of trivial and complex waveforms. ► Long self-terminating transients are observed in response to stimulus. ► This provides a hypothesis for abnormal stimulus responses in epilepsy.
