Resting state cortical electroencephalographic rhythms in subjects with normal and abnormal body weight

► We test the relationship between cortical neural synchronization and body weight. ► We recruited 16 underweight, 25 normal-weight, and 18 obese subjects. ► Eyes-closed resting state EEG data were recorded in enrolled subjects. ► Alpha 1 (8-10.5 Hz) fitted the pattern underweight ≠ normal-weight ≠ obese. ► Alpha 2 (10.5-13 Hz) sources fitted the pattern normalweight > underweight, obese.
