A dissociation between social mentalizing and general reasoning

►The medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is activated mainly when cognitive reasoning tasks include content about agency and mind of self or other people. ►The mPFC is activated less when no or little such mentalizing content is contained in cognitive reasoning tasks. ►Social and cognitive reasoning are subserved by different brain areas: the medial and lateral PFC respectively.
