Depression alters “top-down” visual attention: A dynamic causal modeling comparison between depressed and healthy subjects

►14 patients with unipolar major depression were compared to 14 matched healthy controls. ►The dynamics of visuo-attentional system was described using “Dynamic Causal Modeling.” ►Contrary to controls, patients showed abnormal effective connectivity. ►This malfunctioning contributes to abnormal neural filtering of information in depression.
