Clustering method for estimating principal diffusion directions

► A more precise definition for principal diffusion directions (PDDs) is suggested. ► Estimates of the PDDs based on suggested definition are less sensitive to noise. ► We estimate PDDs using an iterative algorithm based on fuzzy c-means clustering. ► The method is more accurate, more resistant to noise and faster than other methods.
