Slow EEG pattern predicts reduced intrinsic functional connectivity in the default mode network: An inter-subject analysis

► fMRI functional connectivity (FC) in default mode network was linked to brain state. ► We found a specific EEG correlate of the default mode network (DMN) FC. ► EEG spectra explained 70% of intersubject DMN FC variance in healthy awake subjects. ► DMN hypoconnectivity linked to increased delta and decreased beta EEG power. ► DMN FC shown to correlate with EEG-derived alertness/sedation signatures.
