Source localization of sensory gating: A combined EEG and fMRI study in healthy volunteers

►Somatosensory P50 gating can be assessed in an MRI scanner. ►Four brain sources are active at the time of P50. ►Combining EEG and fMRI data reveals 4 sources relevant for somatosensory P50. ►Insula and/or medial frontal gyrus, BA6, appear to generate the P50 amplitude. ►Hippocampus and/or claustrum appear to be responsible for P50 suppression.
