► PDC methods allow the EEG to be used to investigate abnormal rhythms in PD. ► Sparse mAR PDC analysis is sensitive to region-specific changes in the EEG. ► PDC connectivity correlates with clinical PD scores in the α, β, and low-γ frequencies. ► PD patients show impaired posterior directional connectivity.
