Diagnostic yield of upper endoscopy in paediatric patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Subanalysis of the HUPIR registry

► Upper gastrointestinal involvement is common in paediatric patients with IBD. ► Characteristic findings were noted in one third of patients with CD. ► Abnormalities observed in UC were unspecific and did not provide diagnostic help. ► EGD helped to establish the final diagnosis in 9% of CD patients (diagnostic yield).
