Die wear in stamping of advanced high strength steels - Investigations on the effects of substrate material and hard-coatings

► Several substrates and coatings were subjected to wear tests via slider type of test system. ► Matrix type tool steel substrates were found to be better performed. ► TD coating performed better compared to other coatings. ► Wear resistance tends to be elevated with increasing substrate hardness.
