Experimental validation of the lifetime performance of a proportional 4/3 hydraulic valve operating in water

► Newly designed proportional 4/3 directional control sliding type of valve for water hydraulic is presented. ► 10 million cycles test in distilled water was performed with acceptable performance. ► Internal leakage, wear and dynamic response were comparable to oil systems. ► Water filtration was found to be a critical performance parameter.
