Tribological investigation of layered sodium silicate as lubricant additives prepared by freezing titration ion exchange

► New ion exchange method was established. ► Ion exchange products prepared from the method established could significantly improve the tribological properties of base oils. ► Ion exchange products showed excellent lubricant behaviors even better than those of typical lubricant additives such as MoS2 and graphite.
