MRI-based methods to detect placental and fetal brain abnormalities in utero

Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS), another non invasive method, is used to identify metabolic abnormalities to predict fetal brain abnormalities. This review describes the recent development of preclinical MRI-based methods for the detection of inflammatory markers of placental insufficiency and abnormal fetal brain development and metabolism to predict pregnancy outcomes.
