Effects of shear thinning on forward roll coating

► Forward roll coating was modelled for shear thinning fluids obeying the Ellis model. ► Decrease in capillary number increases flow rate through coating bead. ► Film thickness ratio is most sensitive to shear thinning for low values of τ1/2. ► Downstream meniscus and coating stability is modelled.
