Elaboration of new ceramic membrane from spherical fly ash for microfiltration of rigid particle suspension and oil-in-water emulsion

► Spherical-fly-ash-based membrane was used to treat rigid particle suspension and oil-in-water emulsion. ► High permeation flux and rejection were obtained. ► Formation of cake layer and internal pore blocking are the fouling mechanisms.
