Characterization and removal of natural organic matter by an integrated membrane system

► Surface water fractionated into six organic fractions before and after UF ► Dissolved organic carbon was measured for each fraction. ► Disinfection by-product (DBP) formation potential was measured for each fraction. ► UF removed most of the fraction primarily responsible for DBP formation.
