Carboxylate-terminated double-hydrophilic block copolymer as an effective and environmental inhibitor in cooling water systems

► A novel inhibitor PAA/APEG-PG-COOH was synthesized. ► It exhibited 99% Ca3(PO4)2 inhibition and 100% CaSO4 inhibition. ► The growth rate and the morphology of the scales changed a lot.
