Coke removal from petrochemical oily wastewater using γ-Al2O3 based ceramic microfiltration membrane

► Complete removal of coke particle from wastewater was performed by microfiltration. ► Effect of temperature, filtration time, sequence filtration and washing was tested. ► Turbidity and total suspended solids of the feeds were highly removed by MF. ► Reusability of the membranes was tested using HCl, NaOH and SDS as eluents. ► Based on feed flux recovery, sodium hydroxide was the best cleaning agent.
