Treatment of gaseous hydrochloric acid with magnesium-aluminum oxide using batch operation

► The increase of gaseous HCl removal with Mg-Al oxide is due to the MgCl2 production. ► The subsequent decrease is due to the Mg2(OH)3Cl production with the release of HCl. ► The HCl removal progressed by the Mg-Al layered double hydroxide reconstruction.
