Preparation and characterization of ion-selective polyvinyl chloride based heterogeneous cation exchange membrane modified by magnetic iron-nickel oxide nanoparticles

► Home-made ion exchange membrane was modified by Fe-Ni oxide nanoparticles. ► The membrane selectivity was increased by additive increasing and then decreased. ► Prepared membrane exhibited higher permselectivity for monovalent ions. ► Electrical resistance was declined by increasing additive ratio and then increased. ► Iron-nickel oxide nanoparticles led to higher permeability for bivalent ions.
