Silt Density Index and Modified Fouling Index relation, and effect of pressure, temperature and membrane resistance

► A Mathematical relation between SDI and MFI0.45 has been developed, assuming cake filtration. ► SDI results depend on pressure, temperature and membrane resistance. ► Effects of temperature and membrane resistance explain partially the erratic results. ► It is recommended to correct the SDI for temperature and membrane resistance.
