Orientation selective or not? - Measuring significance of tuning to a circular parameter

► Orientation selectivity cannot be tested easily with standard statistical tools. ► We propose to measure the inter-trial consistency of neuronal coding. ► Straightforward retrieval of p-values: mapping from reproducibility and sample size. ► We provide an easy-to-use Matlab algorithm online. ► Efficiency of our method is shown for single-unit and optical imaging experiments.
