Alterations of serotonin 2C and 2A receptors in response to T10 spinal cord transection in rats

► We investigated RNA expression of serotonin receptors after spinal cord injury (SCI). ► Complete transection was performed at T10 level to minimize extracellular serotonin. ► 5-HT2AR mRNA expression was upregulated below SCI. ► No changes in 5-HT2CR mRNA editing or expression were detected. ► The findings suggest that 5-HT2CR editing is not regulated by extracellular serotonin.
