Regional specific alterations in brain acetylcholinesterase activity after repeated blast exposures in mice

► Repeated blast exposure reduced AChE activity in whole blood and erythrocytes. ► Frontal cortex showed acute increase in AChE activity after blast exposure. ► Repeated blast exposure showed chronic increase in AChE activity in the medulla. ► Differential brain regional AChE activity may be related to uneven blast injury. ► AChE inhibitor treatment can be used to mitigate medullary injury in blast exposure.
