Genetic studies of the protein kinase AKT1 in Parkinson's disease

► AKT1 is implicated in several disorders of the dopamine system. ► Genetic variants in AKT1 were previously associated with Parkinson's disease (PD) in Greece. ► This replication study shows no association between the studied genetic variants in AKT1 and sporadic PD in Sweden.
