Hippocampal atrophy rates in Alzheimer's disease: Automated segmentation variability analysis

► We compared two automated MRI hippocampal segmentation techniques in a multi-centric setting. ► Both techniques (SNT; FreeSurfer) reliably detected changes in hippocampal atrophy rates. ► Both technique over-estimated rates when compared to manual expert segmentation. ► There remains metrological uncertainties before concluding on their accuracies.
