Watershed infarcts in a multiple microembolic model of monkey

► We have examined brain MRI in a multiple microembolic model of macaque monkey. ► Both cortical and internal watershed infarcts were generated in the acute phase. ► Brain atrophy with microbleeds was induced in the chronic phase. ► Embolism may contribute to the genesis of the two types of watershed infarcts.
