► We studied phase-amplitude coupling between theta and gamma oscillations during pain perception. ► Gamma power increased 200 ms after laser nociceptive stimulation. ► The amplitude of gamma was coupled with the phase of theta after nociceptive stimulation. ► The coupling located over frontal and parietal region.
