Impairment in processing visual information at the pre-attentive stage in patients with a major depressive disorder: A visual mismatch negativity study

▶ MDD patients exhibited decreased visual MMN amplitudes elicited by increment duration deviant. ▶ The decrement duration MMN did not differ between healthy controls and MDD patients. ▶ MDD patients had the dysfunction of visual duration processing at pre-attentive stage. ▶ The functional impairment of pre-attentive visual information processing could be a distinguished trait of MDD but unrelated to the symptoms.
