Mutual cancellation between tones presented by air conduction, by bone conduction and by non-osseous (soft tissue) bone conduction

► An entirely new mode of auditory stimulation, soft tissue conduction (STC), has been described. ► Tones presented by STC mutually cancel tones presented by air- and by bone conduction at proper phase relations between them. ► The phase relations between such tones differ across subjects. ► Tones presented to 2 different STC sites can also cancel each other. ► Neck muscle manipulations lead to changes in the phase difference for cancellation.
