Influence of serotype on the growth kinetics and the ability to form biofilms of Salmonella isolates from poultry

► A total of 69 Salmonella enterica strains belonging to 10 serotypes were examined. ► All the strains produced biofilm on polystyrene micro-plates (crystal violet assay). ► Differences between serotypes were observed in growth kinetics and biofilm production. ► S. Agona and S. Typhi formed greater amounts of biofilm than the remaining serotypes. ► Biofilm production within each serotype was not correlated with growth kinetics.
