Expression of Cryptosporidium parvum Cpa135/CpCCP1 chimeras in Giardia duodenalis: Organization of the protein domains affects the protein secretion pathway

►Criptosporidium parvum Cpa135 protein can be expressed in Giardia duodenalis parasite. ► The Cpa135 deleted of the C-terminus is secreted by encysting G. duodenalis trophozoites in the medium. ► The full length Cpa135 is exported to the cyst wall of G. duodenalis. ► The C-terminus of Cpa135 drives the export route of the protein in encysting G. duodenalis trophozoites.
