Analysis of a calcium-binding EF-hand protein family in Fasciola gigantica

► Fasciola gigantica EF-hand proteins FgCaBP1, FgCaBP3, and FgCaBP4 were analyzed. ► Calcium-binding of the recombinant FgCaBPs was demonstrated. ► Mice immunized with recombinant EF-hand domains showed significant IgE responses. ► ELISA indicated highest abundance of FgCaBP1 compared to FgCaBP3, FgCaBP4. ► IHC revealed FgCaBPs in tegument, digestive tract, and excretory system.
