Cooling effects of wetlands in an urban region: The case of Beijing

► Cooling effects of 15 wetlands are investigated in Beijing. ► Wetland area does not linearly correlate to the intensity of cooling effects. ► Spatial heterogeneity indicators including wetland shape and location significantly impact the cooling effects of wetlands. ► These findings may provide insights for ecosystem service evaluation and urban landscape design.
