Arsenite toxicity and uptake rate of rice (Oryza sativa L.) in vivo

► Arsenite toxicity and uptake rate were investigated with intact rice plants. ► Arsenite toxicity threshold was 2.4 μM arsenite. ► Uptake rate was linearly related to arsenite concentration in the non-toxic range. ► Arsenite concentrations above 10.6 μM decreased arsenic content in plant matter. ► Arsenite impaired uptake of arsenite, water and Si, P, K, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn.
