Vertical emission profiles for Europe based on plume rise calculations

► Vertical emission profiles have a large temporal and spatial variability. ► Effective emission heights show large differences between coastal and continental areas. ► Currently used fixed emission profiles do not represent the before mentioned variability. ► The inter-annual variability of effective emission heights due to the meteorology is very small. ► For regional scales the profiles are not dependent on model resolution.
