Setting-up of modified fouling index (MFI) and crossflow sampler-modified fouling index (CFS-MFI) measurement devices for NF/RO fouling

► This paper demonstrates an improvement of existing MFIconst.flux and CFS-MFIconst.flux devices. ► These devices are used for prediction of fouling potential in a RO/NF system. ► Setting-up of the devices provides a useful guide on membrane fouling potential. ► The functionality and consistency of the devices were evaluated in RO fouling test. ► Differences of both fouling indices were significant for high polydispersed foulant.
