Biotic and abiotic response to palaeoenvironmental changes at Lake Pannons' western margin (Central Europe, Late Miocene)

► We examine a limnic-deltaic sequence deposited c. 11.3 Ma (Styria, Austria). ► The section covers a period of time of less than 45 kyr. ► Millennial to centennial changes of ecological parameters were observed. ► A detailed reconstruction of the palaeoenvironmental evolution is presented.
