Oxidative stress indices in natural populations of Avicennia alba Blume. as biomarker of environmental pollution

► We analyzed the impacts of heavy metals in three mangrove sites on oxidative stress indices in Avicennia alba. ► We examined changes in the level of lipid peroxidation, root oxidizability, electrolyte leakage and antioxidant enzyme machinery. ► Ascorbate and reduced glutathione content serving as the biomarkers of heavy metals for monitoring pollution. ► Significant changes in antioxidative responses in plants collected from different sites with similar hydrographic features, but different water quality status.
