Ordering phenomena in nanostructured poly(styrene-b-butadiene-b-styrene) (SBS) membranes for selective ethanol transport

► New nanostructured SBS membranes have been prepared and characterized. ► The membrane nanostructure can be opportunely tuned by changing the casting solvent and PS content. ► Ordered PS cylinders in plane to membrane surface (equilibrium morphology) have been obtained by SBS28 and toluene. ► This equilibrium morphology is the best one in terms of ethanol selectivity compared to the disordered nanostructures. ► The combination SBS21 and toluene produces a metastable morphology with reduced ethanol selectivity.
