Copper leaching of MSWI bottom ash co-disposed with refuse: Effect of short-term accelerated weathering

► Weathering transformed organic matter and carbonate bound Cu into residual fraction. ► Weathering has little or no beneficial effect on Cu leaching in SPLP and TCLP. ► Weathering had significantly reduced Cu leaching when IBA co-disposed with refuse. ► SPLP and TCLP are not suitable to assess Cu leaching when co-disposed with refuse. ► Cu leaching over weathering was explained by mobility, complexation and adsorption.
