Recycling-oriented characterization of polyolefin packaging waste

► Characterization of polyolefins from packaging reflects the parameters of the recycling processes. ► Density separation can sort PP and HDPE, and the appropriate cut density is 910-920 kg/m3. ► The rheological properties of polyolefins can identify the type and molding procedure. ► The difference of blow and injection molds in wall thickness allows some sorting by flake thickness. ► Polyolefins and contaminants are clearly identified by hyperspectral imaging process.
