Novel ultrafiltration membranes prepared from a multi-walled carbon nanotubes/polymer composite

▶ MWNTs/BPPOqua membranes were prepared by in situ amination with triethanolamine (TEOA), which crosslinked MWNTs and polymer (BPPO). ▶ Hydrophilic zwitterions containing the quaternary ammonium group and MWNT-carboxylate are formed in the membrane. ▶ The permeation flux of the MWNTs/BPPOqua membrane can be improved and the selectivity can be simultaneously maintained well. ▶ A synergy between MWNTs and TEOA contributes to the better membrane performance.
