► In this study we evaluate the seasonal circulation of a narrow Continental Shelf. ► Local and transient processes affect the shelf circulation. ► The western boundary currents affect the shelf/slope region. ► The whole system is influenced by changes in the large-scale atmospheric circulation. ► The circulation within the shelf/slope region changes between seasons.
