Vertically migrating micronekton and macrozooplankton communities around Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands

► The micronekton and macrozooplankton communities were studied around Guam. ► Pelagic biomass decreased from south to north, values are calculated for major groups. ► Assemblages based on larger taxonomic groupings showed a distinct change with latitude. ► Assemblages based on taxonomically resolved taxa varied on each side of the islands. ► Theoretical estimate of migrating mesopelagic fishes around Guam is about 132 species.
